The rapture: before and after

But then I learned about the much more serious human tragedy that ensued

Two videos…

This week saw yet another in a very long line 0f failed raptures. There have been prophets and other assorted scoundrels promising apocalyptic rhapsodies since before that ancient Pharaoh had his minions put the first sandstone blocks together like ancient lego-based experiments in geometry.

At first I thought this was just another amusing interlude. Another crank claiming to know the end was nigh. That was my attitude when I posted this video…

But then I learned about the much more serious human tragedy that ensued. So I made this…

Just read the book!

Christians claim to believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God and yet they usually can’t even be bothered to read what it says.

Christians claim to believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God and yet they usually can’t even be bothered to read what it says. Surely if they really believed it was inspired by the most powerful (and interested) being in the universe – the Deity with the power over their eternal souls they might find the time to see what it actually says! I know I did when I was a believer.

That’s when the bastards got me!

The God of Abraham’s not a shit,
He’s just a myth that doesn’t fit,
The modern world because we know
Too much.

I wondered how I could have been so blind

Genocide and slavery

Gaslighting and rape

All sanctioned, even ordered

By this God of perfect love

Arbitrary punishments

Capricious twists of fate

Hypocrisy, failed prophecy,

Sadism and hate!

The devaluing of woman

Only useful when they breed

A receptacle for callous

Selfish men to sew their seed

And I realised in trembling fear

Shredding many a heartfelt tear

That this hateful God was far from good

No one with integrity could

Support its vile crimes

The Burden of proof

If I said I’d risen from the dead you’d say I’m playing games, If I claimed 500 witnesses you’d want to know their names.

If you want to convince me that something is true, If you’re making the claim then the burden’s on you. If I said I’d risen from the dead you’d say I’m playing games, If I claimed 500 witnesses you’d want to know their names. And if I said God wrote my diary, I’d anticipate inquiry. How you’d react to my diary, Is how your Bible seems to me. Of course, my diary’s bollocks, as you knew, As to the Bible, the burden of proof is on you!

Toxic MAGA Christianity

Do you think Bishop Budde’s sermon reflects true Christian values

Do you think Bishop Budde’s sermon reflects true Christian values or should she have refrained from asking the most powerful to have mercy for the powerless?

See for yourself and let me know in the comments. Watch her sermon here… https://youtu.be/xwwaEuDeqM8?si=69mVloI9pGWiP5Xb You can read the transcript here… https://www.stmarksrva.org/blog/a-sermon-given-by-the-rt-rev-mariann-budde/

‘Twas the church before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas,
And all through the church,
The faithful were gathering,
And praying in search,
Of some mystical moment,
Remembering the birth…

A creationist UK science teacher

Nick Cowan is a creationist who also understands the principles of science. He’s a retired UK chemistry teacher who also taught creationism to the same state school pupils in his A level general studies class. I asked him how this could possibly make sense. What followed was a passionate but genial conversation between two people who hold diametrically opposing views.
