Possibly the most reasonable Christian yet

A combination of mild heat exhaustion and a little too much Southern Comfort left me a little slower than usual in my thinking.

Stefan might be the nicest, most reasonable Christian I’ve ever had the pleasure of speaking with.

Unfortunately I didn’t give him the discussion he deserved. A combination of mild heat exhaustion and a little too much Southern Comfort left me a little slower than usual in my thinking. Stefan was gentlemanly enough not to mention it though.

To be honest, part of me would prefer not to post this one but there’s no integrity in that. The agreement was that we post it on YouTube and it would be dishonest of me to renege on that agreement after the event. Oh well… nobody’s perfect!

Let atheism be (free Palestine)

I don’t see Muslims, Jews or Christians. I see murderers and victims.

As an atheist looking at the genocide in Gaza I don’t see Muslims, Jews or Christians. I see murderers and victims. All are people and in situations like this that’s important to remember…

The Jewish victims of those awful days,

Themselves adopting monstrous ways,

Israelis seeking Lebensraum,

Becoming that which caused them harm,

While Christians look the other way,

Pretending not to see the Zionist Nazis of today,

But still I say:

“It’s not a crime,

To support Palestine!”

Jesus sinned

Don’t tell me Jesus was without sin when the gospels themselves show that he did!

Don’t tell me Jesus was without sin when the gospels themselves show that he did!

Josephus and friends

The 4th century forger who wrote those words was clearly a liar.

People keep telling me

Of Jesus’ historicity

Of witnesses, contemporary

Proofs of authenticity.

So let’s examine the main claims

The oft-repeated ancient names

Josephus, Eusebius,

Tacitus and Pliny

And finally…

The one you don’t know…

What a coincidence!

What a coincidence that your wishes and financial needs match so often your God’s desires.

What a coincidence that your Pastor’s wishes and financial needs match so often your God’s desires.

Be careful what you ask for

keyboard warriors tend not to be quite so impressive in person

Sam Sheets is a Christian.  He thought it might be fun to claim that atheists are just trolls who don’t want to debate. He claims we have a warp (sic) sense of reality. Finally, demonstrating all the self awareness of a woodworm in a house brick he asks the atheists “What’s with the hostility?”

This video is what happened when I took him on. I’m afraid keyboard warriors tend not to be quite so impressive in person. Sam ran away after 40 minutes spent demonstrating how little he knows of his religion, his bible or rational thought.

Not in Jesus’ name!

Such violence and prejudice in Jesus’ name. And most moderate Christians say nothing.
Stand up for your Jesus…
Not in His name!

Are you a moderate Christian?

If so, here’s your chance to make a genuine difference.

Stand up for your Jesus. Join the rest of us and enter the fight against the renewed rise of fascism…

In Jesus’ name!

Harm in God’s name

Your God myth is far less dangerous than the things you do in His name!

Your God myth is far less dangerous than the things you do in His name!

Two kinds of Christian

I guess they were too busy hurting others to read Matthew 25…
“Whatsoever you do to one of the least of these, my brethren, do you also unto me.”

There are two kinds of Christian. Some are genuine, sincere, compassionate and strive to be a source for good in the world. They’re the ones who are represented in the old hymn, ‘Make me a channel of your peace’.

Then there is the other kind. These Christians are stuck in the Bronze age mindset of the Old testament. They prefer oppression over peace, nationalism over fellowship and hatred over love. I guess they were too busy hurting others to read Matthew 25…

“Whatsoever you do to one of the least of these, my brethren, do you also unto me.”

Part 2 with Jonathan

It is my belief, which I told Jonathan several times throughout the discussion, that he simply is not equipped for this type of discussion.

This is both the longest and the most infuriating conversation I’ve had with a Christian. It’s definitely what you might think of as ‘long form’. It is my belief, which I told Jonathan several times throughout the discussion, that he simply is not equipped for this type of discussion. I have advised him to learn the basics of his religion and to actually read his Bible.

In the second half he demonstrates his utter contempt for anyone who doesn’t agree with him, his dismissal of any notion of equal rights and just how much he deserves the rarely applied (but in this case very well deserved) label of ‘Christofascist’.

His misogyny, racism, homophobia and xenophobia are expressed with a smug pride that has to be seen to be believed.

If we give people like Jonathan an inch they’ll drag us all straight back to the bronze age!
