Peace that passeth all understanding

If you want to experience the peace that passeth all understanding – you’ll find it much easier to achieve through secular means.

Christians promise an indwelling peace, ‘the peace of the spirit’ when people submit themselves the their Lord, Jesus. It’s this promise of peace that prompts them to claim that atheists are miserable. There’s only one problem – it’s nonsense. An old school friend of mine, now a vicar in the Anglican church has a particular view about the source of morality. He also seems to think that atheists can have no real backing for their morality because it’s not ‘transcendent’ at base. It doesn’t come from the mind of God, in other words. This video is my response to that position.

In answering his question I’ve borrowed shamelessly from Matt Dillahunty, Sam Harris and one or two others but hey ho – it’s still good info wherever it comes from and nobody thinks up everything all on their own. The video’s a bit rough because I made it in a hurry but I think the point holds well enough. Facebook might be interesting tonight!
